Jessica and Nathan - Home Depot Wedding Portraits

So are you ready to see some pictures from the craziest wedding we have photographed? Jessica and Nathan got married over the weekend at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach. Everything was shaping up to be a "normal" wedding. We were planning on doing the portraits in the church following the wedding, like we do for most weddings. We were then going to head across the street to the beach and do some beach portraits of the bridal party. That's when things changed... dramatically..

When you get married in Florida, you have to be prepared for rain, particularly in the summer. I had mentioned in a phone conversation with Jessica a week or so prior to the wedding, not to freak out if it started raining. We could still do some pretty cool stuff and offer some unique portraits. Well a couple of days later, I get an email from Jessica. She asked my opinion on going to Home Depot for the portraits with the bridal party. Did I mention that they are crazy? (Well we like crazy) :)

I mentioned to her that it would offer plenty of unique opportunities for portraits and that I couldnt find anywhere on the internet another image of a wedding couple doing their portraits at Home Depot (someone got married there, but from what I can tell, no one has elected to go there for their portraits). So the idea was planted and they decided (I'm told it was more Jessica than Nate) to do their portraits at the Home Depot on Merritt Island.

I am pretty certain that its the most original set of portraits we have done for a wedding. The looks on the faces of customers as they watched a bride walk around the store was priceless. Home Depot even announced their names over the PA system and you could hear whistles and clapping throughout the store. Its awesome when clients put their complete trust in us to create something awesome for their wedding day. So now that we've shot at Home Depot for a wedding, I cant imagine what could be the next cool location.

See the images from the day after the jump.

A Special thanks to Robert at Home Depot on Merritt Island for allowing us the opportunity to crash his store for the pictures.

And thank you to Jessica and Nathan for trusting us to create something awesome in a location that others would not think of being picture-esq , especially for a wedding.

As happy as I am for the Lovely couple, the photographer needs some help! Seriously dude? You got paid for those pictures? You need to learn when to crop a photo, and of course how to CENTER! I know we all want to see a glowing bride, but you take it to new levels with over exposure. The aisle to the alter is a great photo if I weren't so distracted by the disgusting mess on the floor. You might want to use the healing brush in Photoshop. Hope you take this constructive criticism seriously before you accept your next wedding.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures. They have a one of a kind set of photos - and looked like it was probably much more fun than traditional ones!

Disagree, dude. Disgusting mess on the floor? Umm ... I believe it is standard for a flowergirl to preceed the bride with flower petals. CJ, great work capturing every detail!
After reading comment above I went through images again with a more critical eye. Beautuful!

It is one thing to have "out-of-the-box" ideas. It is another thing to execute it. You guys nailed this one. Great idea and great execution. Love it. You guys rock!

I love #1 on this list. I am totally a victim of this. When I started creating goals around my blog I noticed the quality of my content drop month after month. It wasn’t because I stopped caring what I was publishing… it was simply that my focus was geared towards specific numbers and metrics rather than what you describe as “actions.”
Because of this #3 and #5 started failing big-time as well and thus a spiral effect began. Thank you very much for this insight. The big thing I’m taking away from this is… to start focusing more on “actions” again!
